Jamie M. Kautz's View on Gifted Programs:

In the Journal of Law and Policy, Volume 25, Issue 2, Jamie M. Kautz wrote an article explaining the importance of gifted classes in the school system. In her article, "No "Gift" Giving Here: The Inadequate Gifted Education Programs in New York State and the Need for Gifted Education Reform" she gives her opinion about the importance of school systems challenging their gifted students so they do not become bored and drop out of school altogether. Kautz indicates that schools should consider  Gifted programs to be just as necessary as Special Education programs are.

"... legal protections offered to gifted students are extremely limited, translating to the reality that those students are sitting in classrooms unengaged for years." and that " ... educational services tailored to their individualized learning needs ... much like the protections afforded to special education students in the state and nationwide."  - Jamie M. Kautz
